Privacy Policy

This website, carolinischmidt.com, is run by Carolini Schmidt, an independent practitioner based in Auckland, New Zealand (“I”, “me”). The work people bring to me is intimate, so I take their privacy seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what I collect, why, who else is involved, and what you can do about it.

1. What I collect

  • When you contact me or book: your name, email, and anything you choose to write in your message.
  • When you join my newsletter: your email address (and name, if you give it). If you sign up through the Google sign-in prompt, Google shares your name and email with me at your request.
  • When you answer a reader survey: your answers to up to three short questions.
  • When you pay for a service: payment is handled by Stripe / PayPal / Wise / Pix. I receive confirmation of payment, never your full card details.
  • Automatically, when you visit: technical data such as IP address, browser, device, pages viewed and time on site, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see sections 4 and 5).

2. Why I use it

To reply to you, deliver the sessions and readings you book, send the newsletter you asked for, understand which content helps readers, keep the site secure, and show ads that fund free content. I do not sell your personal information.

3. Session and reading information

During sessions and readings you may share sensitive information: your date, time and place of birth, family history, relationships, emotional experiences and, sometimes, health. This information:

  • is used only to prepare and deliver your session or reading;
  • is kept confidential and never published, sold or used for advertising;
  • is never shared with anyone without your explicit consent, unless the law requires it or someone’s life or safety is at serious risk;
  • is stored securely and deleted 24 months after our last session, unless you ask me to delete it sooner.

Recorded readings (audio and PDF) are sent only to you. If I ever wish to use part of a case in my writing or teaching, I will ask for your written consent first and fully anonymise it.

4. Advertising — Google AdSense

This site uses Google AdSense to display ads.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used.

5. Other services that process data on this site

  • Google Reader Revenue Manager — powers the newsletter sign-up and reader survey prompts. Survey answers may be used by Google to improve ad relevance. Privacy Policy

  • Jetpack and Akismet (Automattic) — site statistics, security, contact forms and spam filtering. Privacy Policy
  • Mailchimp — stores the newsletter list and sends emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

These providers may store data outside New Zealand, including in the United States. I only use services that apply recognised safeguards to protect personal information.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This site uses essential cookies (to make the site work), analytics cookies (to understand visits) and advertising cookies (see section 4). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.

7. How long I keep data

Contact messages: up to 24 months. Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe. Session records: as in section 3. Payment records: as long as tax law requires (7 years in New Zealand).

8. Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask me to access, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or to stop sending you emails. Write to contato@carolinischmidt.com and I’ll respond within 20 working days.

  • New Zealand: you have rights under the Privacy Act 2020 and can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
  • Brazil: you have rights under the LGPD (Lei nº 13.709/2018), including confirmation, access, correction, anonymisation, portability and deletion, and can complain to the ANPD.
  • European Union / UK: you have rights under the GDPR, including objection and restriction of processing, and can complain to your local data protection authority.

Where I rely on your consent (for example, the newsletter or advertising cookies), you can withdraw it at any time.

9. Children

This site and my services are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent me information, please contact me and I will delete it.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, I’ll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced to newsletter subscribers.
